Slow Internet on Brand new laptop (Wired & Wireless)

Hey there ,

I bought a new laptop. I am shocked to find that i am only getting 3 Mbps on Wired & Wifi. I have Virgin Media's 125 MBPS internet with there Super hub 2. I have tested the internet on my old laptop both on WIFI and Wired to fine i get 100 MBPS on Wired and 90 on WiFi. This to me shows that there is no problem with the Internet. I have no clue what is wrong and therefore i need your help.

Wire the laptop into your network. Navigate to the Control Panel and accessing network and sharing center. Click on Local Areal Network and see what it says to the right of Speed. Does it say 10mpb or 100mbps?

It might be your wireless card acting up. Do you have a warrantee? If so you can try replacing it.

Update your wireless card drivers. You can find them on the laptop manufacturer website or directly from whatever brand wireless card you have. (note, direct from the brand are generic drivers, you will lose any customizations HP made to the functions)

Check to make sure HP power saver isn't throttling the wireless connection. Under wireless settings for windows, make sure 802.11n is enabled.

Turns out it was the LAN adaptor bugging out. After a while of installing drivers and trying stuff out i got it working. Back to 100 MBPS. Thank you all very much!

Here, do not ever type "MBPS", type "Mbps" instead.

In my case
my labtop wifi slow down from 10m to 4m
I found solution to solve by

1.uninstall wifi driver at device manager with (no checkbox delete the driver).
2.rescan hardware your wifi driver will appear again.

First lets face it, you bought an ASUS. A cheap laptop. But this can be fixed and easy.

Two Solutions, may need to do one or both.

1. Update your Wired or Wireless Network Adapter, whichever you are using.
2. If that doesn't work which I'm guessing it will not, uninstall McAfee and browse smart. (no Po#n Sites)

The main reason your browsing speed sucks is because the computer isn't powerful enough to quickly process the packet inspection through your AntiVirus. Yes McAfee is slowing down your system. Its a great program to have but unfortunately on a ASUS it's a decision you have to make. In my opinion only smart browsing is how you protect yourself against viruses. McAfee will expire in a few months anyway and be out of date. Its like getting the flu shot for the flu of 1995 which no longer exists anyway so why have it?

Good luck - I did this same thing on my laptop and the browser is as fast as at should be.
