Got a new SHARP smart TV... I have a Sony Receiver with HDMI hookups to the TV, CableBox, and PS3. The signal is fine when I have Cable selected for audio and video, but when I select Netflix or a Smart function on the TV, the audio output on the receiver still outputs the Cable audio, which makes sense.
How do I set up the receiver so I can output the TV audio to the receiver? I guess I can run a HDMI cable from the TV to the DVD port or other unused port on the receiver and select that? Wondering if there is a better way? SONY STR-DH540

Your receiver supports ARC (audio return channel) and since your TV is new it should too. All you need to do is connect the HDMI output of the receiver to the HDMI input on the TV marked ARC and turn this feature on in the TV and receiver menus. This was designed to eliminate having to use an additional cable to get audio into your receiver from the internal TV tuner and internet functions.
