smart tv will play videos but can't watch tv

Samsung smart tv has audio but black screen when tuned to a tv station. Menus will show on screen as well as youtube and Netflix videos.

Are you turning the TV directly to a station or using a cable/sat TV box? You can't just tune the TV to say channel 4 and have it come in without service. You can use an antenna if you are in range to use one, do you have an antenna connected? If not, you need to get one to use over the air signals.
