Sony Bravia TV has sound but picture

My Sony Bravia TV has a black screen for both live TV and DVR though I can get all sound. The input is correct and I have turned it off and unplugged it and waited and tried again but it did not work. It won't let me play a DVD either.

The usual boring questions: How old is this TV and I assume it used to work just fine and all of a sudden, with no apparent cause, died?
