Hi,

This is my first time buying a digicam. So far my list contains
1. Sony DSC-WX50
2. Canon IXUS 125HS (ELPH 110 HS)

They have about the same price here in PH ($160). With Canon cost $5 less.

What is the best point and shot on $160 range?

My pref:
* 1080p video
* Performance for non-stationary subjects (for our 1year old baby)
* Low-light performance
* Battery life

- thanks!

Update:
After reading some customer review on Amazon, I am getting concerned about quality on Sony. And almost everybody prefers a Canon brand. Is this true?

Solution
Both shoot 1080p video
Advantage Canon if you want to give it "film" look by shooting at 24 fps (24 frames per second) and it can record at 240 fps which is good if you want to use slow motion playback. The faster shutter speed at 1/2000 (1/2000 of a second) is better for capturing fast moving objects but the 1/1600 should be fine. The advantage goes to Sony if you want to take many shots in rapid succession (10 fps vs 2 fps).
Depending on the review you read both are good in low light situations.
The camera's are so close in performance it really a matter of personal choice. If I had to choose I guess I would go with the Canon.
Sorry about the link to the wrong camera. Some reviews favor the Sony over the Canon and some prefer the Canon over the Sony.
On page 11 of the Sony user manual ( http://www.docs.sony.com/release/DSCWX50_EN_ES.pdf ) the charging time required for a full charge is 115 minutes.
I searched the Canon user guide ( http://gdlp01.c-wss.com/gds/1/0300006991/01/pselph110hs-ixus125hs-cug-c-en-web.pdf ) but did not see an estimated time for a full charge on the battery. But according to this http://canoncanada.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/35887/~/charging-time-and-charge-indicator-status-for-battery-(nb-11l) it takes approximately two hours for the battery to reach a full charge.

Of course charging time will vary for both depending on how much of a charge the battery already has.

I have four Sony camcorders and one very old Sony digital camera and none of them have an external charger. The in-camera charging has not proven to be a problem.

After weeks of usage, I found that image are painting like when viewed in our 24" Sony Bravia LED
see this CNET sample images http://reviews.cnet.com/2300-6501_7-10014670-2.html. I wish I saw this before I bought. Compare to IXUS 125, sony is disappointing. Also most of my shots get blurred (note: just my own personal experience).
1080i video are great though.

I hope I went with Canon IXUS 125.

@kenrivers
Thanks a lot anyway.
