I am suprised at all the people who are so angery at people trying to promote awareness of climate change. I mean if more CO2 and methane in the air is proven to trap heat (and it is) and humans put these things in the air it seems likely that we are at least partially responsible for environmental change. I'm not saying you have to drive hybrid cars or skip showers or eat organic or anything. Just be aware of the situation.

I think people were skeptical about CFCs putting holes in the Ozone but that was proven to be true as well. I am not a scientist but it seems like a reasonable thing to believe that 6.5 billion humans can have an impact on their environment.

All that being said: The sun is in a period of increased energy output, 97 percent of all Greenhouse gases are released by natrual means (plants decaying, volcanos, animals farting), and there are many other known and unknown factors that affect our environment.

So it is POSSIBLE that humans are not the cause of some of the strange environmental changes happening but I stand on the side of better safe than sorry.

"What are you going to do for 10:10"

I think a bonfire of styrofoam to celebrate the event would be in order. Global warming and climate shifting is a crock and just another way to suck the money out of the already poor people of a failing nation.

This is obviously religious fanaticism, no different from any other, under a thin veneer of nihilism and "humor", but quite serious nonetheless.

The message is clear: We have our divine truth, and anyone who does not "see" our truth, are enemies to be liquidated with no second thought. Religious fanatism comes in all different flavors, and it is not a "right" or "left" issue. People who want to live in a civilization, have to find a way to cooperate to expose religious fanaticism of all flavors, for what they are.

The exploding human beings could have just as easily have been atheists, Jews, heathens, apostates, or one of any number of other designations that have been used as pretext to murder used throughout history.

People who cheer on this kind of fanaticism are truly a scary sight. Maybe with a few exceptions, these are exactly the same types that come crawling out from under some stone when a Hitler comes to power, and carry out the grusome orders with pleasure.

"So Johny what are you going to to to help cut emissions?"

I'm gonna convince my pop to stop driving his diesel and buy one of those new hybrids. *pop* (Manufacture of a Hybrid produces more emissions than the can can ever hope to recoup because of the pollution cause by the manufacture of the batteries it uses FYI)

IMHO this commercial has a very negative undertone, and that's glorifying ecoterrorisim.

However it's not a bad commercial because it's SHOCK FACTOR is so great it was pulled, and now is in the news and being downplayed like it is here. Unlike a more sensible commercial that would just be ignored.

I think it's friggen awesome. People get upset way to easily when anything involves children. If it's fictional then who cares. It's like when the Girl in Kick-Ass was shown to cut people up and swear up a storm, everybody freaked out about it, I was like "cool".

Most kids start swearing like crazy when they are young anyway.

As horrible as the 10:10 video is, it has bright side. People who have been apathetic towards global warming have now noticed that great scientists as important as the Americn Physical Societies' (former) memeber Hal Lewis have gone on record as opposing the mass hysteria about global warming and the supposed ills of the atmospheric CO2 levels. Since we are entering several decades of entirely natural cooling, the sooner we face the expected food crises the better. Angst at the "warmers" tactics will definitely help.

[citation][nom]paulxl[/nom]For all of you that that think this is funny, or not bad are missing the point that this is really what the green movement believes. Disagree with them go to jail, be reeducated, be killed. It has been in the their speeches, now on TV. It is not funny, it is scary..[/citation]

I like the idea, maybe not the implementation... The point they were trying to make is that its a group effort, and that if nothing is done to curb out emission the future generations will suffer. So effectively by not participating you're dooming the future to death.

Crude, yes. Could have been more subtle, you betcha. The overly violence nature detracts from the point the movie was trying to make.

This video is great because it shows the eco terrorists and their global warming farce for what they really are - intolerant bigots. "Join us - or we will fcuking kill you in a gruesome manner". It's funny, because it's true - this is what they really are thinking in their heads. Global warming is already proven to be a farce, rife with corrupt "scientists" who suppress data and manipulate their findings to further their own political agendas. Sorry people, the earth's temperature has been dropping in most places over the past decade. Humans do not cause global warming or "climate change" or whatever clever buzz word you want to call it.

Wow, I didn't expect there to be so many climate change deniers on Tom's Hardware. Maybe Tom's should do a story on the God particle so we can see how many young-earther's lurk this board.

The commercial was in poor taste overall. I see the humor, but i doubt it would have widespread appeal which is the most important thing when creating a PSA.

[citation][nom]alidan[/nom]its called black comedy, and for something like this, its appropriate. how many times have you seen this global (anything) bs, that you dont even hear it anymore?that being said, anyone here think "climate change" is really? so you all know, climate change is the new term for global warming, which has been proven to be bullshit, however un scientists that said that were kicked out of the study and replaced with politicians to say whatever the un wanted them to say. if there is anything that they should do, they should have a fact, a 75watt lightbulb over the coarse of a year costs 648kwatts worth of power, (71$ where i live) or use a 7 watt led light bulb that costs 7$ a year, per light (this is assumeing 24 hours the light is on, it is possible its 1/4 that cost) showing that going green can save you a metric fuck ton of money a year would be the better thing to do that attempting to scare you[/citation]

Climate change has not been "proven to be bullshit." No clue how you drew that conclusion. On the other hand, you're absolutely correct about energy-saving.

The message was good, but the way it was relayed, bad taste. Parody can be done in an equally stupid, but less gory way. An on/off button is a good way of sending an extreme message, but be too distant to be offensive (unless you're on life-support). A Donald Trump stepping in to say, "you're fired!" Can also be a way to distance, by using unemployment to replace death. A magic wand turning nay sayers into toads, is also a way of replacing death & unemployment, if both are considered to bee too offensive.

For the environmental scientist, how can you believe the "global warming" crap? The lamens have figured out it's only a scam and that the planet is due to die due to human beings? You have all the data to no longer support your original position but you still do? Seriously, moron's have figured out climate change is a taxation only scam and the rediculous notion that in 50 years our planet is dead is only the driving force to fool people, how in the world (with you with the data) could it fool you? The planet is not dying, the planet is not being destroyed, it's all a scam from the highest order; end of story.

..isn't it better to encourage participation than encourage the shunning of those who don't participate?

It's still corporate fascism..you don't need to shun, you just need to encourage through force (not just militarily but economically). Pretending to care about the environment or using other forms of propaganda to create perceived enemies is but the pretext.

It's the global corporations who are driving the problem, and the same people controlling the banks, governments, the media and therefore, public opinion.

If these people really cared for this planet..we wouldn't have a border with Mexico that is a war zone, with officials turning a blind eye whilst not only huge tracts are land are raped, pillaged and butchered. The damage is on a huge scale..so let's hear the scientific community's opinions on this, as well as the environmentalists a lot of whom seem to have fallen silent for some reason. Let's see the war declared on this problem now that America is bankrupt, destitute and there are millions of people who are finally prepared to care enough to ask who is to blame for it.

Whether or not you liked the video and whether or not you were offended by the video doesn't really matter if the ultimate goal was to get the message they wanted out there, which they did. Everyone talking about the commercial just gets it more noticed. The old phrase "there's no such thing as bad publicity" fits this situation perfectly.

My opinion of the commercial: I believe black humor was their whole idea for it. I highly doubt they meant a straight literal interpretation of "if you don't support this initiative, we'll kill you". Environmentalists are often seen as tree-hugging pansies, so I think this commercial was made to go to the extreme opposite of that stereotype, which gives the commercial its "shock value". To them, climate change is a very serious subject, and so they decide to convey their seriousness by using shocking black comedy.

Why not kill people that disagree, that is what Hitler and Stalin did.
