Does anyone know whether or not Sony has a new HD receiver in the works? If
so, can you update me? Thanks. gg

I spoke with my Sony dealer. He had several on order from Sony for
customers. He finally got Sony to admit that they may not be making any
more as they (Sony) did not know if Direct would renew their license.
Direct is going to streamline the equipment, taking a more active role in
its distribution and warranty. Samsung just got a contract for 1.1 mill
units to Direct.

Do you know the model numbers of either of the anticipated new receivers by
either manufacturer?

I heard this same thing from a dealer. Except what I heard was that DirectTV
was being such a pain in the butt to deal with that Sony is dropping the
product.

I can sympathize with DirecTV, it makes it pretty difficult to train tech
support people when each STB operates differently.
