Sony Vaio password SOS

My daughter recently got a Sony VAIO from a neighborhood friend and it asked me to change the password so I changed it and then it asked me to change it like within 30 days Again so I changed it again wrote it down can't find the damn piece of paper. We have no discs or anything I have tried every password option I can think of and even called the neighbor but they haven't got back to me & my daughter has to start school in the next few days and I need help any ideas any suggestions? Thank you in advance!!
