I am using a very ancient Sony Vaio VGN-NR260E, and it is very slow, as could be expected. I am wondering if it is possible to mod it to make it work more efficiently. I would also like to know if any of the parts are bolted down.
I would suggest upgrading the RAM and the HDD to a SSD then install a fresh copy of Windows.
Here are the available upgrades for your laptop thing.

How much would that cost???
The prices are on that same page. If you are talking about having someone else do it, probably $100 in labor costs to install the parts and re-install Windows. If you bring it to a computer shop that is, there may be some guy that will do it cheaper, check craigslist.
