Sony Vegas Pro 13 Freezes when I open video?

If it helps I have a HP Pavilion G6 and the specs are:
AMD A8-4500M APU with Radeon HD Graphics 1.90GHz
8GB RAM
Windows 8.1 64 Bit Computer

I can import Audio Files and mess around with them and stuff but I really need to edit in video! I would like help as soon as possible!

What did you use to record the video (screen or game play capture software or a digital camera/camcorder)? If game or screen capture software have you tried changing the settings it uses to save the video? With the video you already have you could try converting it to another format using Handbrake or MPEG Streamclip (both of which are free downloads).
