Sound problem for my PC

So i've had this PC for some time, and these headphones for even longer (Razer Kraken 7.1 chroma) and the sound was working perfectly but the cord was tangled to the (not allowed to swear so) "poop" house, so i unplugged it and untangled it, but when i put it back in sound wouldn't work. it would work in game (Cs GO) or with normal applications, eg start up. pop ups, etc but no music or web browser. ive tried reinstalling latest sound driver for my motherboard, ive tried making it my main playback divice and disabling the others, also reinstalling Razer Synapse, but unfortunately no luck.
Please Help. Much appreciated in advanced.
