So I just manually updated my Realtek sound device to the latest driver, but ever since, there has been no sound output from the device. I even checked to make sure it wasn't a faulty cable by trying to use headphones, but there was still no sound coming out.

I have rolled back the drivers to see if the sound would still work, but it doesn't seem to help.

Does anyone have a clue what is going on? I also cant seem to find that Realtek App that lets you configure certain properties.

Thank you :)

Solution
Try using system restore to go back to a time when all was well.
Unless you have a problem with sound, do not bother to update.
If you do update, use the driver linked on your motherboard support web site not the realtek site.

Having a similar issue and struggling to find anything online to help so far.

This afternoon I ran Driver Easy to update several drivers.

Now, in lieu of the intended audio, I hear sporadic hisses and crackles.

I've tried uninstalling Realtek drivers and reinstalling the ones from their website. Have then uninstalled after that was unsuccessful and installed drivers supplied for my laptop model from the Toshiba website. No luck thus far.

Will attempt a system restore now, but if this fails I have no idea what to try next.
