Hi everyone, I've lurked for a while and finally registered to ask a question.
The battery on my laptop (ASUS G46VW) failed, and the location of the battery meant I had to remove the motherboard to replace it. While doing so, I had an i7 3610 laying around from an old laptop that put into the laptop to replace the 3rd gen i5 that was in it.
Everything works great after the swap except for the speakers. The laptop's built in speakers are completely unresponsive. However, headphones that are plugged into the aux port receive sound, but the sound is very distorted. I took the computer back apart, checked all the wiring, reinstalled drivers for the sound controller and audio output. Nothing changed.
Does anyone have an idea what is going on? Thank you
