Subwoofer Broken? Or I'm Just Bad...

So my buddy let me use his speakers. They are logitech Z313 speakers. The two speakers themselves actually work well enough however the subwoofer seems to be letting out almost no bass. It's on a hard wood surface and I've checked to make sure all the cables are plugged in properly. Anyone have any ideas?

How do these connect to the computer one cable or two ?
If one cable then you need to configure your computers sound for 2 speaker stereo and not 2.1.
