Subwoofer does not work

My subwoofer does not work. it only hums at like 100 hz.
it also does not play any music. even if i crank the volume of my computer.
what could this be?

yes, the humming is pretty loud. 50 db at 1 meter distance from the port

btw I am using the speedlink gravity thunder 2.1 system's subwoofer.

How is the sub connected to the speakers and amp? It reads like your mixing a sub from one 2.1 system to another set of 2.0/2.1 speakers? Somewhere there needs to be a crossover between the speakers and the sub

i have the subwoofer disconnected at the moment and it is still making the noise

If the sub isn't connected to anything else except power (assuming it has its own amp and power) and it's still making a noise that isn't a good sign, suggests something is faulty in the amp most likely

yeah i thought so too. i just felt like asking here if someone had an idea.
i think i am just gonna buy a new sub.
