Subwoofer not working with PC

I have connected my HiFi speakers and my subwoofer to my computer. The L&R speakers are connected through an amp. The subwoofer is connected to the motherboard with a mini-Jack to Phono cable.
My problem is that the subwoofer doesn't produce any sound. I have tested it in Realtek HD Audio Manager, and when I click on the sub-icon in the program, it gives out a test sound.
So the sub works but only from Realtek. When I play music from spotify, it does not give any sound.
I have an Asus z97 pro motherboard and an Intono K12 subwoofer.
Anyone have similar problems, and know how to solve it?

Solution
You have the sub connected to the orange audio jack?
Do you get bass when you play from other sources or files?
It's possible that the crossover frequency on the subwoofer (or audio control panel) is set too low.
The content on Spotify will probably have less extreme deep low end information than the Realtek test signal or better files.
