swapping hard drives

I have two Acer 5732Z laptops, one that's got a broken keyboard & a screen that doesn't display, & one I've been given that I'm told was working fine but has had the HDD removed for security.

1) Can I just put the HDD from the broken one into the other or could that cause damage somewhere?

2) Will it matter if the HDDs are different sizes (capacity, not physical size)?

If they're the same model laptop, it shouldn't cause any issues whatsoever. It'll even handle windows activation without any issues.
