This lady was victim of a tech support scammer who she allowed to remote in and do God knows what to her computer. I was thinking of just syster restore to a few days before he did it, will this ensure any backdoors (or other exploits/changes) would be removed for him to come back later?

Or does system restore not affect this kind of thing?

I do not believe this is a fully safe method.

System Restore only handles/restores the actual system files...Windows.
No telling what else he put in there.

Full wipe and reinstall.

Same thing happened to my father in-law a few weeks ago. Clean install of windows was the way to go. Took more time, but was the most fool proof method.

i wouldn't trust on that feature, some of the attacks reside on ram and will let you delete it and the they can copy back to the hard disk

a good old windows install should be better
