[citation][nom]relientKitten[/nom]Cellphones are tools, not toys. If a parent thinks a child should have one so that contact can be made in case of an emergency, remove the frills and make it only do what it's needed for. At the very least remove the text-message and data features, at least until our children start having phone sex.[/citation]I agree, but are there cell phones still being made that are just phone anymore?

i like how technology has merely brought to light the behavior of children as it has always been. I knew kids that were experimenting sexually in 3rd grade and knew kids who were actually having sex in 6th grade. Anyone who acts surprised at this kind of stuff is just purely retarded living in some stupid Beaver Cleaver version of reality.

[citation][nom]nirvanabah[/nom]It is supposed to say "accepted", not expected. Tom's can't even copy quotes correctly.[/citation]
Maybe you should check the source article for the original quote before someone accuses you of not being able to even read correctly.

[citation][nom]Abrahm[/nom]This is retarded. How can a person spreading pictures of another person THEIR OWN AGE be convicted of child pornography? There should be an age difference factor when it comes to charges like this. A 40 year old man sending 13 year old girl pictures is completely different than a 14 year old boy doing it. They are essentially going to ruin these kid's lives. Also, they need to stop blaming other people for stupid people's mistakes. It's the girls own fault she took the picture and sent it in the first place. Deal with the consequences.[/citation]

Its about time some little spoiled brats are sent behind bars for child porn, the girl should also be prosecuted for producing child porn. Its the only way to stop this phenomenon.

[citation][nom]Zenthar[/nom]By their definition, shouldn't the girl also be accused of distributing child porn as well?[/citation]

Yes she should.

Shouldnt the girl also be charged with distributing child pornography, in the literal sense of how the prosecution is reading the laws? If not, girls can run around taking pictures of themselves and sending them to whoever they want with no reprocussions... and if the girl ever becomes really pissed at the guy she sent the pic to, all she needs to do is tell someone that he as a nude pic on his phone, or even better take the phone from him and send the saved picture to his friends (guys dont delete pictures like that, if we get them), and boom, revenge complete. gg hf.

They need to figure out some legitimate legislation for this kind of stuff.

Grouping it together as "child pornography" just isn't fair at all. I know that some records go away when you turn 18, but child pornography implies that it was pornographic in nature and child pornography applies to adults, not 13 year olds.

[citation][nom]Zenthar[/nom]I somehow agree, but I think a civil lawsuit for the harm done distributing the pictures might serve better and could set a better precedent for morons doing this even when over 18. As you said, people should be liable for what they did. What the girl has done might be naive (and/or stupid), but the boy's actions were deliberately done to cause harm.[/citation]
Eh, I have no problems with punk kids getting arrested and treated like criminals. He tried to destroy her life, so I think it's fair if his life is destroyed. And I think it's fair to say he's distributing child pornography if he sends pics of a 13 year old girl to all of his friends, regardless of if he's around the same age.

This is a clear case, as well as others, just how far these sex laws have been taken out of hand. I got nothing wrong with what they were meant to do, but now cause of the lack of foresight in writing them everyone no matter their age can be charged with a sex offense and have to register which, in the end as already been mentioned, could make the registration a mute point.

I mean really, charging someone underage with child porn and making them registar all for a pic of someone their own age makes no sense. Not saying it is right or wrong, just the common sense has flown right out the window by not just the kids but the authorities themselves.

Imo. The problem is that too many are looking at the letter of the law and not the heart of the law. If you look at the heart of the law you would know it was never to be taken this far.

Or, perhaps, you should: http://www.kirotv.com/news/22368799/detail.html.

I think having a cellphone should be like having car. Using a cellphone is a privilege not a right. And we should make kids earn that privilege.

[citation][nom]JonathanDeane[/nom]Kids do stupid things not matter how well raised. Its part of the learning process.[/citation]
Exactly Parenting is giving an inexperienced child the ability to deal with experience.

Age wise a 13 year old brain has the cognitive ability to decide if sending out a picture is a good idea or not. Weather or not you see this as a bad choice is up to you. Children always do things like this its part of development, its just not using technology they are leaving traces of such acts.

Okay forget the nude pictures, but why is any teen who doesn't have a job have a cell phone again? My first cell phone when I was 21 I didn't have any need for one as a youth.

This is from the same article. It's almost has the girl's mom is delusional. Hello she is a parent too.

"The victim's mother said she hopes this incident is a lesson for all teenagers and their parents.

"I think they need to realize a lot of what they are doing, a lot of what they are doing, can do permanent damage to somebody," she said."

Indeed, when I was 13.... omg I did things that would give people a heart attack apparently lol Honestly I am lucky to be alive.

Anyone who says they listened to their parents 100% of the time is 100% lying.

Thankfully they didn't have this kind of stuff around when I was a kid, I mean in order to see porn I had to sneak into my older brothers room! (for my friends we had to sneak into the parents room)

The "law" is really getting out of hand in this Country. The Founding Fathers are rolling in thier graves i'm sure. We need less Government and more education to promote better decisions. Just my 2c.

Why does your article say "Source: Tom's Guide US" then?
