What amazes me tho is how stupid these kids are. I mean, kids are usually stupid, but this is getting out of hand! You would think after the 100 million negative stories about the dangers and punishments of sexting some teens would get it...

This is retarded. How can a person spreading pictures of another person THEIR OWN AGE be convicted of child pornography? There should be an age difference factor when it comes to charges like this. A 40 year old man sending 13 year old girl pictures is completely different than a 14 year old boy doing it. They are essentially going to ruin these kid's lives.

Also, they need to stop blaming other people for stupid people's mistakes. It's the girls own fault she took the picture and sent it in the first place. Deal with the consequences.

In a society where "popularity+success > self-respect" and "sex = pupularity+success" anyone will conclude "sex > self-respect". Pfff identity and personality are so over-rated these days!

Wow the registered sex offender registry is fixing to be watered down. By this definition, way over half of kids in High School these days are sex offenders. This happens ALL the time. I think I've seen nude pix of every girl every one of my friend saw naked when I was in High School.

The guys did what almost any 14 year old would do. By sending it to one person she surely knew it would have adverse affects if they ever broke up. Forcing a 14 year old to register as a sex offender is just outrageous.

This is getting out of hand - ruin kids lives b/c of a naked picture. They'd be better off dealing drugs or stealing a car. Being charged as a sex offender will follow them around until the day they die.

I think both the Mother and Daughter should be charged with "idiocy" and serve 100 hours community service.

What utter nonsense. Take the kids phones away and tell them not to do it again - end of story.

Yeah, I love when you're in your teens and its illegal to look at naked people your own age. That makes you a child porn pedophile.

I love how the mom is claiming they did it to harm her. Because god forbid guys forward naked pictures girl they're dating to their buddies to show off.

Parents are to blame also. The mother should be aware of the childs activites, especially when it comes to cameras and computers. Other wise, bad things like this will happen.

[citation][nom]logitic[/nom]Toni should have taught her daughter not to pose fucking nude at the age of 13. For god sake the mom needs to go to jail too![/citation]

If parents got locked up for everything a child did then we might as well build a prison cell for almost every person on the planet.

Kids do stupid things not matter how well raised. Its part of the learning process.

As you said, people should be liable for what they did. What the girl has done might be naive (and/or stupid), but the boy's actions were deliberately done to cause harm.

Once everyone is a registered sex offender, we can throw away the whole retarded witch-hunting system.

Trying to apply child pornography law to children is just being silly. The whole thing came up as an effort to prevent the exploitation of children BY ADULTS, not the children themselves.

If a girl under 19 (or whatever the age is) sends a naked picture of themselves, voluntarily, then how do you classify that as exploitation? Furthermore, the recipient merely received what they sent, they had no part in its creation.

Don't get me wrong, I completely sympathize with the pain and humiliation that such a picture can bring to an individual, but trying to criminalize another person for their actions (especially a child's) needs to seriously be re-thought.

If you're arresting the children, the mother of the girl should be arrested as well. Allowing her child to become a porn star is criminally negligent in my book. The mother says her daughter made a mistake, but she made the bigger one by not keeping tabs on her child. A 13 year-old should not be 'dating' and should not be left unsupervised for the length of time it would take for a naked picture to be taken, especially with an individual that they claim to have an emotional attachment to.

The mother made a mistake, the daughter made a mistake, the boyfriend and other children made a mistake. How come only the latter are being punished, and unjustly at that?

This is getting ridiculous. Cellphones are tools, not toys. If a parent thinks a child should have one so that contact can be made in case of an emergency, remove the frills and make it only do what it's needed for. At the very least remove the text-message and data features, at least until our children start having phone sex.
