Hi people of Tom's Hardware! I need help on finding a good gaming laptop preferably under $1400. I have a list of requirements of the laptop:

-Must be thin
-Light weight
-15"
-Good on battery
-Able to run upcoming modern games. (ie: Sims 4, Borderlands 2..... etc)
-SSD is prefered but not absolutely necessary
-THIN AND LIGHT!

Please help me, for I am not very smart in laptop choices D: thanks for the help!!

The two games you've listed aren't exactly demanding 3D games. Are they typical of what you plan to run, or do you really need something that can handle "upcoming modern games"?

You don't list a price range. And bear in mind that with gaming laptops, thin&light is mutually exclusive with quiet. If you really want to play "upcoming modern games" and you're ok with a noisier laptop, then the best fit is the Gigabyte...

As far as games go, Borderlands and the Sims aren't all that demanding. I could direct you to something like this:

http://www.xoticpc.com/asus-x550jxdb71-p-8361.html

Those two are quite similar. Not sure about exact battery runtimes, though.

You can custom configure both with SSDs through XoticPC. You could also contact them about exact configurations, since their support tends to be quite helpful.

I reckon that's a good place to start. Best of luck.

If you really want to play "upcoming modern games" and you're ok with a noisier laptop, then the best fit is the Gigabyte P35W or P35X. 0.82" thick, 4.9 lbs, 76 Wh battery gives it about 5+ hours non-gaming.

The next would probably be the MSI GS60 Ghost. 0.85" thick, 4.35 lbs, 52 Wh battery gives it about 3.5-4 hours non-gaming.

If you're willing to go thicker or heavier or shorter battery life or don't need as much performance, there are a lot more options and the price is much lower. Thin and light gaming laptops with good battery life are a very expensive niche.
