Toshiba Laptop c855 not booting

My laptop has led light when plugged in. When I press power button the light goes off. If I hold down button the light comes back on. In any case nothing happens, no boot. If I unplug the lcd monitor at the motherboard The second led light comes on and the unit appears to power up. Do you thing the motherboard is repairable.

Even if the motherboard is repairable it will be a heavy cost to repair. At that old of a Laptop, It wouldn't be worth spending that much money to repair it & that will be X cost. You could potentially find the same laptop for a lot cheaper than looking for the board.

I agree, but I have licensed software on the laptop that is non-transferable without purchasing a new license.

You are able to get that product key for that software from the hard-drive assuming that the drive is in working order. This is rare, but I've seen it in the shop.
