Toshiba Laptop no audio output device is installed

I restarted my computer today and suddenly there's a red cross on the speaker icon and when I hover over it says "No audio output device is installed". Also, when I run a dxdiag and go to the sound tab, it now says "No sound card was found. If one is expected, you should install a sound driver provided by the hardware manufacturer." despite the fact that everything was working fine until then.

Please can anyone help me just get sound on my laptop

I have uninstalled the sound device and restarted my laptop yet the issue still remains. Do you or anyone else have any other suggestions please.

i cant stand not hearing or seeing any videos on my computer! i have been to many site asking for help but no answer 🙁

If you're on Windows 7 try downloading the Windows Vista driver, it worked for me, finally
