Hello everyone. I am trying to set up an in store video display using a Toshibe 55l421u Chromecast TV.

I am having a hard time trying to get the tv to recognize and play a 600mb video file. I have tried formatting the movie into different types such as H.264, AVI, MP4, WMV, MOV with no luck. The tv will recognize the remaining photos and files on the USB thumb drive but not the video files.

Any ideas?

I know I can stream it through YouTube via the Chromecast feature, however the owner of the store is not able to take time or remember the steps to set this feature up every morning before opening.

as per https://www.manualslib.com/manual/1208075/Toshiba-32l221u.html?page=67#manual of your TV manual only can read photos.

the only way I see this TV (that uses chromecast) to play a video file would be use a desktop or laptop on your network to chromecast the movie to your tv through your network.

Personally this is not a Smart TV (that has applications, and many other things like a cell phone would have) but a TV enhanced with Chromecast which is not the same thing. a smart TV can read video files from Usb and find the video...

I really wish this would get an answer. I am getting the same issue. I have the 49" TV from Toshiba. I tried everything from reformatting the flash drive to multiple formats and I even changed the video(s) into mp4, mov, avi, ogg, flv, mpg and a few more i cant remember. TV doesn't recognize anything.

Shouldn't qualify as a smart tv to be honest.

Agreed. I read the same thing in the Manual. We are having to engineer some crafty work arounds to get this TV to work. Its a little sad TBH. Anyone looking to buy this TV, I DO NOT RECOMMEND IT.

That said, the Chromecast feature seems to be spotty at best. It lost connection (wifi and ISP was fine and fully operational) 3 times within 30 minutes and even reset itself to the point where it had to be set up again via the initial setup process.

Any recommendations on making Chromecast stable?
