Toshiba vs Asus Reliability?

I've heard Asus is the most reliable laptop brand, but one of my friends picked up an Asus a few months ago and it has been nothing trouble. Both the hard disk and RAM failed in that time! I was dead set on Asus but now I'm thinking Toshiba. Anyone have experience with laptop reliability?
My current laptop is a Lenovo Thinkpad R61 from 2007! Never had a single problem and still on the original hard disk. It stays on 24/7 and at night I only have a screen saver/power save mode on. Otherwise it's never had a break! I'm really hoping I can find a laptop to match this amazing reliability. Thanks!

I generally look to Asus and Lenova as 1 and 2.....Have seen lots of various problems over the years w/ Toshiba, HP and Dell so I tend to stay away from them

I have had Toshiba since forever and I can say that I have had minimal problems with them. I have one now with an issue, but it is a few years old
