Trouble installing a program...

Hello all,

I have recently been looking for a driver updater for my newly built gaming desktop. I want a free one, and most of the ones I came across require registration or a purchase. I finally found SlimDrivers, a completely free one. But when I go to install it, I get this error:

The Windows Installer Service could not be accessed. This can occur if the Windows Installer is not correctly installed. Contact your support personal for assistance.

I try and try again, but it never works. How do I fix this? If it can't be fixed, what program should I use instead? Please don't say windows update.

this is not likely a problem with the program but rather the windows installer service. try downloading and reinstalling the latest version. belay that,it seems,upon further looking that windows installer is part of the win 7 os. further research is needed here.

Where to download the latest version? It probably is pretty obvious, sorry for asking.

it looks like windows installer is an integral part of win 7. its version 5.0 and its not available as a standalone. however you can try downloading win7 sdk web installer from this link. http/www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=3138
