Try to connect My LG 32LV2530 audio to my old HIFI Sony MHC GN-880

Solution
Two ways to do this
1. Connect the headphone output of the TV to the Game or Video input on the Sony. You need a cable with a stereo mini plug at the TV end and 2 RCA plugs at the stereo end.
Turn the TV volume all the way down. Leave the volume on the stereo about where you usually use it. Bring the TV volume up slowly until the volume is about the same as your usual listening volume. If you turn the TV volume up to high you will hear distortion even if you turn the volume down on the stereo. You would be overloading the input.
2. Use a DAC like this one

to convert the optical digital output of the TV to analog. Connect to your TV with a Toslink optical cable and to the stereo with a pair of RCA audio cables. TV volume will not affect the stereo volume so use the stereo remote to adjust the volume. The TV speakers will still play if you want them to. If not either turn the volume all the way down or turn the TV speakers off in the TV audio menu.
