trying to connect my laptop through rgb to my hitachib tv but keeps saying no sig detected? can you help me?

If the output of your laptop is RGB (usually a VGA connector) that isn't the same as the YPbPr component video input on TVs. There are cable that can connect VGA to the three RCA jacks but unless you can set the output of the laptop to component video it won't work.
Get a converter that will change VGA+audio to HDMI or to component video+audio.
