Trying to listen to audio while recording with Magic Lantern

I am using a Canon T3i Rebel and have installed Magic Lantern to be able to listen to the audio through a pair of headphones (earbuds) when recording video. ML is the only way to make this happen to my knowledge. It allows the display screen to stay on after a cable is plugged into the mini usb port. Without ML installed, the display screen turns off immediately.

I am using the mini usb to red/white cable that came with my camera and the Headphone Mon option is turned ON but when I plug in the cable, the camera's display turns off immediately. When I take out the cable and the display comes back on, I see a message on the screen saying "headphones disconnected". So it looks like it should be working but the display keeps turning off and I can't figure out why. I have watched many videos of this process working for others with no issue and have been trying to figure out why it is not working for me. I have had no luck on the ML forum for any reply.

I downloaded the ML build for 600D/Rebel T3i and have tried with 2 different 64gb sd cards and get the same problem with both cards.

Any idea why the display is turning off when it shouldn't? Thanks so very much for any help anyone can provide.

Here is a video of myself showing the issue I am having https://youtu.be/VEG4Hk8HfzA

Did you follow the directions for updating the camera's firmware? There is a very specific way that ML is added to the SD card. If yes, you did follow the instructions,do you see that ML is active when you boot the camera? With the T4i you can start ML by pressing the trash can icon when the camera is turned on.

Thanks for the reply, yes I did update the camera's firmware, and the ML starts up fine when I turn on the camera and clicking the trash icon brings me into the ML menu's. Everything looks fine, as shown in the video I linked, I turn on the headphone monitor but the screen still turns off when I plug in the cord.
