I'm trying to get the DLNA server to work on this wireless router. I'm not seeing anything on my TV when I turn on the media server nor on my Windows 7 PC. I have the router UPNP turned on for this, normally turned off.

Since there is only the on button and give it a name I'm a bit lost as to what to do from here. My TV are Samsung Smartarses 2012 model which work fine using XBMC and PS3MediaServer, and Windows 7 media server.

Any suggestions to getting DLNA working is appreciated, relative or not. :) I will probably put a sniffer on this in the coming days if no resolution.

Off topic but also, when I turn on the USB media sharing that is also not showing up on my PC's networking. Possibly related? I'm thinking that perhaps that I secured something a bit too much!?!

Do you have any other devices that work with your router's DLNA server? It should work with a PS3, 360, etc. If it works with anything else then it is probably not your router. DLNA is very annoying because some devices just don't work together.

From Samsung's faq:
"There are many different DLNA certified programs available to you. however, samsung only supports the Samsung Link program"
http://www.samsung.com/us/support/faq/FAQ00000484/652/Y/

However, your drive should show up on your PC. In your router, under "USB Storage"/"Advanced Settings" you should have the "Network Connection" enable box checked and there should be an entry under "Available Network Folders". In Windows, you should be able to map it in "my computer"/"map network drive" (give it a few seconds to show up after you click it).

No, the router isn't show up on the PC for either file sharing (network mapping or Network in general) nor devices. I put a packet sniffer on and I'm not seeing anything being sent from the router for either the DLNA nor the SMB traffic. It appears that it just doesn't work as others have reported.

Oh well, I just bought an Asus AC56U to replace the router. Not because of these problems as I was more curious to see how well this worked but I needed a new bridge. I know that the USB use to work when I first bought it because it was flaky at best and I wasn't comfortable with the security.

BTW, the firmware on the router is V1.0.16.98-dnsNA. That could be the problem now that I think of it. Netgear is pathetic when it comes to updates and this one never got out of beta but for security reasons it is a 'must install'. :(

Thanks for the response.

Updated: Yea, Samsung states that they don't work with a lot of things. I like PS3Mediaserver the best for it. Some things don't work and I have hacked the source code to get thumbnails and advanced skipping to work better but not for the faint of heart. :(

I know it sounds simple, but maybe you overlooked it - Almost towards the bottom of the settings (no idea why its separate) there is another "USB Settings" selection. Just check to make sure you are allowing all devices or that your device is approved.

Yea. Netgear likes to spread data across screens that can get ya at times. :(

I gave up on it as I really didn't need it. I just wanted to try it out again thinking that sometime I might want to just put my external HD on it and not have my PC running.
