Unlocked Motorola Phone from eBay onto a Verizon Prepaid account

I am looking to purchase an unlocked phone, Motorola Razr Maxx XT1090M, and use it on the Verizon prepaid line, do you think that will work?

I am on the Verizon prepaid, using an older Verizon Razr Maxx that I had on the contract service. The prepaid folks activated the old SIM card in the phone and I have 4G data, I just want to update to a newer phone that is being sold on eBay as unlocked, I have heard that some of these phones data plans may not work due to being other than Verizon service in their previous life.

Depends on whether the phone is CDMA or GSM. Verizon uses CDMA, so GSM phones are not compatible. Could also just call up Verizon to double check, although it would require you to have adequate information on the new phone.

I went to a Verizon store - the told me only a prior Verizon phone that is unlocked will work on the prepaid account, I guess that means only a CDMA will work
