I am disabled veteran, low income and limited to only working from home. I desperately need a laptop. Given my situation if anyone of you tech savvy folks were in my shoes what laptop? Type of laptop, software etc. would you be looking for and were would you look? My budget for a used on is $150 and I will be doing some streaming, schoolwork but no gaming. Thanks

This Dell Latitude E5420 would be a decent one. It has an older Core i5 CPU, SSD and 4GB of RAM. I'd perform the free Windows 10 upgrade on it. It comes with Windows 7. The reseller has a good rating on Newegg and it comes with a 1 year warranty.

As for software. All you really need is Google Chrome and Libreoffice. Libreoffice is free and lets you work with Word, Excel and Powerpoint files. Just be sure to change its default settings to save in XLSX, DOCX and PPTX. For compatibility with MS Office. You may also just be able to use Google Apps instead of Libreoffice.

For an anti-virus I would run Avira Free Edition...
