Vaio shutting down with new adapter.

I've got old vaio vpcs12x9e. About week ago i find out that it's not charging. Led on the adaper was dead so i bought a new one. Today I plug it in, turn on and it shuts down after few secconds. I find down about that solution - remove battery, hold power button for a few seconds etc. It worked, but only for about 2 minutes than it shuts down immediately again. When i tried turned it on, it was same as at the beginning, dead after few seconds
This is happening without battery with battery and charging and only with battery. No shutting down before new adapter.
Any ideas?

What are the specs of both the old and new adapters? Did you purchase an OEM adapter, or an inexpensive knock-off?

Also, how old is the battery?
