In trying to cancel my Verizon cell phone, that I have had
for over two years now, their representative Jerron told me
I will be charged $175.00 early termination fee. I balked at
that, since I have long since gone past any such date.
He advised me that I had 'updated' my phone to receive
extra minutes in April of this year, therefore the early termination
fee applies. This is a complete fabrication, since I made no
such change with Verizon. He further claimed I had signed such
a contract and acknowledged verification sent to me via e-mail.
Again, totally false. He promised he would check into it, and
someone would call me back. That did not happen.
I sent several e-mails to Verizon, each time getting an acknowledgment
that my messages were received, and each time being promised a
response. That also did not happen.
I then spent a long time trying to contact Verizon customer service on
the telephone, finally reaching a "Tamika" at the Columbia, SC call
center. She said her records indicated I made the upgrade at a Circuit
City store in Maryland. Since I have not been in Maryland for over two
years, I knew this was also a fabrication. She promised to get with
her supervisor on the matter and call me back in two hours. That, of
course, did not happen either. I left voice mail messages for her,
again after delays on their ridiculous machine-answered call centers,
and have not yet had the courtesy of a call back.
I am wondering if any others have experience such sleaziness from
Verizon, and what I can do to get them to behave like honorable human
beings.
