VGA to DVI as good as DVI only?

I found a great monitor but i just has vga and my gtx 970 only has dvi so i was wondering is the vga to dvi converter as good as just a normal DVI Port or maybe is vga to display port better?

neither is good, vga is analogue, and vdi/dp/hdmi are digital, digital path is what you want
