I have 3 computers running vista.... (pause for laughter)..... ok my question now I liked Windows movie maker, well knew how to use it at least, now its no longer supported my Microsoft. And of course my main computer for video editing has issues with wmm and I cant fix it so meh.... I down loaded the trial for sony movie maker and its way, way more complicated but much more powerful. But due to its trial I have to buy to be able to render and actually use it. So if I am going to shell out some hard eared cash for a real video editing software program.... whats out there thats worth while? I am not a pro editor nor do I need or want a 600 dollar program. I want a solid relatively easy to use program for HD video editing. Some where in the 30 to 60 dollar range would be good. I just dont know if the sony is better then adobe elements as they are about the same price. I have no brand loyalty just want a solid program thats not too over complicated but not too weak either. .. thanks for your time for reading this!.

Additional info thay may be useful here are my two set ups that I would edit on: option 1 old HP intel q6600 4gb ddr2 mem radeon 6670 gpu or AMD FX6300 8gb ddr3 1866 memory and hd6770 gpu.

I am planning a Intel i5, nvidia gpu build but that wont be for about 7 or 8 months from now. This will be the editing rig but until then old Intel or fx is what I have to use.

You could try one of these:
Corel VideoStudio Pro X6: http://www.corel.com/corel/product/index.jsp?pid=prod4900075&cid=catalog20038&segid=8100022 ($79.00)
VideoStudio Ultimate X6: http://www.corel.com/corel/product/index.jsp?pid=prod4900077&cid=catalog20038&segid=9500002 ($99)
Adobe Premiere Elements: http://www.amazon.com/Adobe-Premiere-Elements-11-Download/dp/B009G6SH4U/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1369797159&sr=8-1&keywords=adobe+premiere+elements+11
Sony Movie Studio Platnium: http://www.amazon.com/Sony-Movie-Studio-Platinum-Suite/dp/B008MIMIY8/ref=sr_1_1?s=software&ie=UTF8&qid=1369797199&sr=1-1&keywords=sony+movie+studio+platinum+12
Pinnacle Studio: http://www.pinnaclesys.com/PublicSite/us/Products/Consumer+Products/Home+Video/Studio+Family/
The Sony and Adobe software mentioned above are consumer versions of their pro software and will lack many of the features of the pro versions. Finding something in the $30 - $60 range may be difficult.

Thank you for the info looks like I have some home work to do.. The sony movie maker that I downloaded price was 59.99 so I assumed most of the generic editers would be about the same price... thanks again for your time.

I have used video making software ShowBiz, Windows Movie Maker and Coral VideoStudio on pc, the only one I think as great as imovie for pc is ShwoBiz. You can download some free trial versions to have a try yourself.
