I have the DirecTV DVR & Media Deck. I want to play videos I have on my NAS. I tried playing the VOB files but nothing worked. Do I need to keep the files as ISO, MKV or forget about it?

not familiar with DirecTV DVR & Media Deck

but would have thought vob or iso would be a less likely format

mkv possibly

mpeg or avi more likely

my tv recognises mpeg ,xvid , h264 so possibly something like that

I have had Directv for years but have never even tried to play videos from the network through my DVR. I'm not familiar with the Media Deck and just have an old HR 22 100 DVR. Every Directv question I have ever had has been answered by going here though.

If anyone can get you on the right track it's these guys. That site is the Tom's Hardware of satellite TV.

or just get a small video file

convert it to a load of different formats using something like this

and see if it can play any of them

Thanks for the tip. I found a related post on the same basic topic so I piggybacked on it. Hopefully they won't yank my dish.
