Virus from android locked PC

So a friend of mine has an issue with his phone: Voice is muted and he hasn't been able to figure out why.
In getting ready for a factory reset he plugged it into roommates computer to backup data which subsequently has become unbootable.

Assumption is something he downloaded (his porn addiction gives myriad options as to source, which he will never admit to...) had some kind of worm that transfered over.

I will be over there in a few hours to attempt cleaning of computer (using livecd) and maybe phone if he asks nicely for me to save his data.

Web searches are coming up with all kinds of irrelevant results (my google-fu fails me!) So I was wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction to ID this so I get the correct tools.

If you're asking for help regarding a malware infection of a computer... then I suggest you give Malwarebytes a shot. Get the FREE Edition (don't activate trial or pro). That's the first and only program I use when cleaning out "nasties" from a computer.
