Want to by pass 5.1 to use tv speakers Sony str DH550

I have my 5.1 set up fine, but my wife want to use the tv sound. Suggestions please!

Many AVRs will pass through HDMI AV from one input to the TV when they are turned off. Check the owners manual of the receiver.
If yours doesn't then you can use a distribution amp to split the output of the source she wants to watch (set top box probably) and connect it to both the TV and receiver.
If it's the TV tuner then you can turn the TV speakers on in the TV menu.
