Want to watch movies on the go on my s4

SO shud i use the usb-OTG cable from samsung? will it connect my External hard drive (2009 edition .doesnt require power)..Seagate..320gb..... will the phone or hard disk get corrupted if i use one? i hav tried connecting a usb mouse,,..it works but i'm skeptical abt connecting my ext. hard drive.. also which format shud the hard drive be? Ex0-fat or NTFS.. its NTFS at the moment... ANy help will b appreciated..🙂
