My names Eric, I’m 37 and getting ready to retire from the US Army. I came in as a communications specialist which mainly had me working on hardware. I took what I knew from the sincgars radios I was constantly taking apart to clean and re-solder wires. Even SATCOM radios had connection issues (mainly during my time in South Korea) but it was there that I first saw an awesome liquid cooled PC by a gentlemen in met playing Starcraft in this tournament over there. It was a huge deal and while I only placed 34th in the whole event there was over 1300 entries. It was seeing these custom systems that made me build my first A10-7890k with MSI A88X gaming 45 mobo. With 16 gigs of ram and a galax gtx 970 HOF edition all in a Corsair 750D . I gave that build to my daughter. I was able to purchase a very cheap silverstone TJ07 using a Asus Mark-S z97 mobo, i7-4790k devils canyon, 16gigs of Avexir Sabatico light up ram, 2x Galax GTX 908 TI’s HOF edition gpu’s (known for the white PCB circuit boards. I did have to get custom HOF waterblocks for the graphics cards (thank you to Diamond Cooling from the UK for the custom HOF waterblocks and beautiful custom back plates. . My buddy owns a car paint shop which helped me greatly in painting the silver case (which also had black acrylic pieces due to me ordering a light box mid plate, a new psu back panel, a new IO back piece, the light up front cover to hide all the 5.25 bays (got my custom name on the piece to! Coldzero brought new life to an old PC case. It looks like a murderbox only without the price tag. I managed to get the Swiftech D5 bump with gold mods, the bitspower true brass 250ml reservoir, 18 gold Monsoon economy compression fittings for 16mm Monsoon acrylic hardline tubing, gold bitspower stop plugs, 2x rads AX 480 and AX360. 11 white 120mm Corsair RGB fans to mount on the radiators. The only part of this build that wasn’t white is my psu which cannot he seen thanks to my 480mm radiator that takes up the entire bottom of my case. Anyone wanting to endeavor on building a TJ07 case you can replace pretty much the majority of the metal parts (aside from the frame) but the back piece, the motherboard try, the metal pieces sticking out from the 8 or 9 5.25 bay drives (those can be removed. Coldzero makes an extended motherboard and another piece to close up the gap left by the metal 5.25 brackets. So all you are left with is a clean back side (where my res and water pump go. Then my ax360 rad up top and the AX480 white rad at the bottom. I was also able to get a “honeycomb” grill for the side panel to give the case an after market look. I’ve replaced all wires to include the power button and I’ve replaced where my USB3 ports are to the top of the case.

Hi all, I'm Tom from the UK. Good to meet you all.
I'm not the most interesting guy around but I'm a bass player in my church band where my wife plays 12 string guitar and is the worship leader.
I'm also a bit of a gear whore be it basses, guitars and I'm trying to get to grips with all this zoom carry on.
I've started a thread about this because I'm new to it and struggling a bit..

We want to play guitar and bass and both of us sing. I think i have all the gear but not much idea.

So thanks for having me here.

Tom.

I'm Jeff and I confess to being a techie. I have Alexa and Google home and a Homepod. I do some product testing for a large tech company. After I retired in 1999 I spent 10 years on the road in a motorhome. I got really good at borrowing WiFi.

Hey All! Still learning this stuff mainly on Android (ZTE) which I traded my thirteen yr old daughter the iPhones 10 for (hated it). Besides trying to get one of my Asian sister's to help (and don't) always searching for answers and help) So y'all have been formally warned ahead of questions. Thanks All.

I love gadgets and especially hi-fi (remember that?) but I'm agnostic about most tech: like anything else, I just want stuff to work properly. I love Apple design and for video editing I still think they're good but frankly I can't be bothered to pay a massive premium for some thing that I can get much cheaper that does the same job. I work in radio and TV but much prefer radio and all things audio.

Hi everyone, my name is er? .... "Bob" and I'm an alcoholic..... oops sorry wrong website and it's not Thursday. Yes I know it's a bit of a clumsy way to introduce myself but that's my British sense of humour for you. I used to use that line when having to attend team building events in my last job in education, but fortunately I have now taken redundancy and early retirement.
I used to be really into gadgets but these days I just want things that work well and not to be too expensive, that's why I like Android rather than Apple products. I've used an iPad as part of my job and my daughter is an Apple convert to the iPhone and Mac but she has her own on-line company so I can see why she's gone that route.
Me I've got a Nokia 4.2 and a Lenovo Tab4 8 plus tablet and my wife has a Google Pixel 3a, all of which we are very happy with.
We like listening to music and my wife likes less clutter so I uploaded my music collection on to Google music and bought Sonos speakers for around the house, including a Sonos sound bar. This system I'm not so enthralled with, the sound isn't as good as I expected and there are some sources I can't access, BBC Sounds app is one of them.
Anyway that's me.
Cheers

Hello everyone!
I found this forum via Google, looking for information about how I maybe self could fix my Acer Aspire wich won’t turn on.
I have no actual technical skills regarding the inside of a laptop, but I have confidence in finding good advice in the right surrounding.

Hey all - I'm Paul and am a bit of a geek. Finally build my first PC this year and used Toms Guide as a good place to find information. I play a lot of golf and enjoy gaming. I have a girlfriend who is far too hot for me so its great to be totally punching. I also have my own business and this year build a website for the first time as well using Wordpress and Elementor - That was so much fun and well worth putting the hours into learning it.

Hi all;

I'm new to Tomsguide.

My first computer was an IBM 286...way back in the 80's
I am a novice at best when it comes to computers.
I try to fiddle with my computer, but due to my lack of knowledge and confidence, I don't really do too much...adding more ram and a video card is the extent of my skill.
I finally decided to try and build my own computer from scratch...
I bought old parts and put it together...
But now I'm stuck and cant install windows 10 onto the PC...I've been scouring the web looking for solutions but nothings works. I would take it to a computer store...but then I won't learn how to fix the issue myself.

Any help would be appreciated.
