I would guess you'd want it to boot from the HDD, so pick number 2.

Unless you're trying to boot from a CD to reinstall the OS...

Eyes glazed over....my laptop wont boot at all. I really don't know much about computers I'm just a newbie and I appreciate any help you can give me but please don't assume I know what you're talking about

It depends on why it won't boot, it's probably not going to be fixed with that menu.

If you are that much of a noob this is not going to be easy. How old is it, do you have restore disks?
