Hello everyone,

I am finding that my antivirus McAfee (which I only use because it is free through my work) takes up a TON of memory and bogs my system down. I am trying to determine which services I can and cannot safely disable. Here is a screenshot of them. Thank you!

All of it. Uninstall the whole thing, and use an AV solution that does not screw up your PC.

Doesn't matter if McAfee is free or not. If it screws up the PC, out it goes.

I agree with USAFRet. My work uses McAfee and it has gotten so bad recently. A few of our work computers got viruses even with it running, so I wouldn't use it even if it was free.

I downloaded this after a clean install on a SSD; how do I stop the notification from popping up?

Create an account, and log in.

Unfortunately it turned out even worse than McAfee.. Had some sort of conflict with a config file and caused a Service Host Process to take up about 60% of my CPU.. Uninstalled it and CPU is back down to normal. Any other suggestions?

Interesting. I have that running right now, and do NOT see that behavior.

Yeah I did a clean install of Win10 Home x64 on a new SSD and BitDefender was one of the first programs I installed; immediately shot up my SvsHost to around 50-60 even higher sometimes and when I uninstalled it it went back down. :\

Maybe it was doing an initial update, and initial scan of the PC?
Right now, my BitDefender is using 0% CPU (rises to ~3% monentarily), and 248MB RAM.
