What would cause a dvd drive not to work

I have a toshiba laptop that has vista installed on it and i am having troubles utilizing my dvd drive for downloading a anti virus software from mcafee. I can play other cds and movies from my dvd drive, any ideas ?

Do you mean your antivirus disc can't be read?

The disk is probably damaged.
