What's the thing with Dell Inspiron line?

About 3 years ago, I bought Dell Inspiron 17R N7110 model with i7-2670QM processor. I decided to upgrade this year and get my self a new Inspiron 17 7000 series, but the 2015 model, Inspiron 17 7746 comes with a 5th gen i7-5500U processor, which is less powerful than i7-2670QM. How is that possible? Why are they downgrading the CPU power?

If only there was XPS 17, but Dell killed it 🙁 It was the best business laptop imho.

Intel only have the "U" on the 5th gen mobile processor. Should have real quad core again on 6th gen Skylake mobile cpu. Should be out around Sep.
