Oh, one more question:

On the remote control, top left hand side, there is a button labled
"window". What is that for?

Thanks.

The manual states "Future enhancement".

Wouldn't it be nice if it would do PIP with your Dual tuners? :)

Quick, somebody at Tivo add that! Oh, and while you're at it, please add
dual tuners to the SA Tivo's as well ;-)

Making you ask this question.

Maybe someday it will be used for something else, but not yet.

Now that Spring is here, TiVo will be adding this feature that will open all
your house windows when pressed.....

I suppose it still would be nice., I have one upsatirs that has a
broken crank mechanism so getting that to open would be of some use.

I was hoping it would wash them instead. Maybe next release?

From what I understand, the dual tuners are just dual encoders. They do not
have dual decoders, so I don't think the PIP is possible with the current
setup - it would need a hardware modification. I could be wrong, it just
seems that is what I've read on this board in the past. Bummer, cause I've
got dual tuners and would love that feature as well. For now, you've got to
do it yourself with the right tv and dual receivers.

A DirecTV DVR doesn't have any encoders. The data stream is encoded at the
source and stored locally on the disk. Decoding is done during playback.

A DirecTV HD DVR has four tuners but can record only two programs at a time.
OTA HD signals are compressed at the source.

Sort of.

I have had the experience of the HR10-250 recording two scheduled recordings
(both OTA) while buffering a DirecTV channel. Others have reported that
it is possible to buffer *two* DirecTV channels (and switch between them)
while recording two OTA programs, and one guy reported that his HR10-250
recorded *four* shows at the same time...again, two OTA and two DirecTV.

Nobody knows exactly what causes this glitch.
