When laptop connected to TV, no sound from TV, but from laptop

I have a Toshiba laptop with Conexant SmartAudio HD speaker, and it is the only speaker in my sound system. When hooked the laptop to my Samsung TV, there was sound played from TV, but the sound stopped playing from my TV after a while, and playing only from my laptop.

My OS was Windows 7, and upgraded to Windows 10 a couple of days ago.

Which cable are you using to connect your laptop and TV? HDMI or something else?
