Hi, I have a Samsung LE32R51 32' LCD TV, connected to my pc via HDMI cable. I would like to ask which is the best theoretical (or practical) resolution and quality settings in order to view DVD movies in the best possible way? 720p or 1080i? What resolution should I use for either 720p or 1080i, 1280x720 or the maximum 1920x 1620? Which is the best combination for DVD viewing? Thnx!

the best res would of course be your native one. the best res for watching DVD's would be the one its done in i think. for 720p the best res would be 1920 x 720 and for 1080i 1920 x 1080. i'm only used to computer monitors so don't quote me on that. does you monitor have scaling abilties, like adjusting for aspect ratio.
Thnx for your replay! Ok about the resolutions...how about the 720p and the 1080i, which gives the best image quality for movie watching? My monitor has 16:9 and 4:3 native aspects, but I have full control via the display properties control panel of my nvidia.

where possible go with the progressive scan one the 720 p. from what i've heard interlaced is not as good when watching anything fast paced. 1080i only shows 540 lines at a time and relies on your eyes to match up everything. what is the native resolution of your monitor?
