Intel® Core™ 2 Duo T5500 (1.66GHz, 2MB L2 Cache, 667MHz FSB) [add $75 or $2/month1]
Intel® Core™ 2 Duo T5600 (1.83GHz, 2MB L2 Cache, 667MHz FSB) [add $125 or $4/month1]
Intel® Core™ 2 Duo T7200 (2.00GHz, 4MB L2 Cache, 667MHz FSB) [add $200 or $6/month1] SELECTED
Intel® Core™ Duo T2050 (1.60GHz, 2MB L2 Cache, 533MHz FSB) [Included in Price]

Hi all,
I would like to know If there would be any actual visible performance Difference between the above Processors. The one marked as SELECTED is what I have currently selected. But having the cost factor in mind I am still thinking about it. Its not like I am a big gaming freak nad use High end processes. But then I dont wanna sacrifice too much also. So please suggest me appropriately.

Regards,
Hemanth

I got the T5500 about 2 months ago, running Vista on it now but if I could I wish I would have went with a faster cpu.

The 5500 will be fine. The merom cores difference is about the same difference as their conroe counterparts, so you could look at the CPU charts if you want to see if it's worth it. If you're not gaming, nor doing heavy video editing or any other multimedia app (which I doubt since you're using a laptop) then just get the 5500.

But then there is a $200 difference between the one that is included in the price and the one which I have marked as "Selected". I have selected the 2 Ghz for kicks and thot fast begin amazingly fast . But then if there is no much diff between that and one included in the price, why buy it in the first place. Thats why i am in 2 minds now. Have to book it by end of the day. So can you guys tell me where I may find a difference, with an example as $200 means a lot to me...

Do you have anything to suggest..

The performance difference between the T5600 and T7200 is about the same as the diff between the e6400 and e6600...

Between the 2050 and 5500... I'd go with the 5500 just because it's a newer architecture even if it's based off of the Yonah architecture...

Either way, you don't need the 200 dollar proc, the 75 should be fine, gives you plenty enough added speed through a faster FSB and slightly faster clockspeed not to mention an improved architecture...

The 1300 only has 64 MB of RAM if I remember correctly... with the remainder coming from shared memory. That said... if you only have 1 GB of RAM, you'll have even less than that free once your video card gets finished with you... so maybe you're RAM limited.

With Vista, you're going to want 2GB RAM far more than the T7200 over the T5500.. especially with your video memory being shared. Upgrade the memory to 2GB-533MHz, stick with the T5500.

well something to consider with that is the 667 Mhz fsb and that RAM is easy to upgrade yourself, while a CPU is much lessor so. A gig of RAM $120 maybe for top of the line, a CPU $300 is more in line.
