i use the laptop for the purpuse of autocad, pro-e,catia ,ansys, wathing movies, and games

Solution

apu a8 laptops are slower in cores but in graphics department tend to be better then intels standard hd graphics
this is due to the graphics chip is on 1 die
cpu/gpu
intel hardware does a cpu with a lower end graphics chip which can be no better then a emulator except the newer gen 4000 which is better but still not very good compared to amd.

most games are playable on low exept extreme...
You are lacking the information on the speed of the CPUs, but assuming you have an average CPU of that series in each, the APU is better. The graphics performance will be a lot better, and CPU performance will be fairly similar, a little worse maybe than the i3 but only in some situations.

apus come in several series a4/a6 are considered for browsing and movie watching
apus a8/a10 are considered entry level gaming a8 being for low gameplay a10 tends to be better.

it all goes by budget whats your budget as a8 and a10 tend to be close in price range depending on who manufacturer is.

in terms of budget laptops and offers a slightly slower core the a10 close to i3 and a8 close to pentium in speed but offers a better graphics chip certain models are of a8 are upgradable.

Solution
Yea like he said the best graphics that will have is Intel HD 4000 which does fairly decent, its about as good as the Nvidia GT 610M series. Where as the APU has graphics that are more like what an Nvidia GT 630M would be which is pretty good really. I use a laptop with a 620M and do decent enough gaming.

The a10s are also better, but if it has the likes of a Richland a8-5550M, then its on par with the Trinity a10s and thats pretty good. So its better to look at the a8s and a10s as being competitive with Intel's i3's. The AMD a6's are closer to Celeron CPUs I think, but they still sell laptops with Athlon CPUs which I think are to compete with the Pentium.
